Basic Banking Accounts: Accounts come with an overdraft facility of up to ₹5,000, a RuPay debit card with an inbuilt accident insurance cover of ₹1 lakh, and a life insurance cover of ₹30,000 for accounts opened between August 2014 and January 2015.

Account Opening Process
The process is paperless and can be completed using Aadhaar-based e-KYC. Bank staff will guide you through the entire process. Once the account is opened, you will receive a RuPay debit card with an inbuilt accident insurance cover of ₹1 lakh. After 6 months of maintaining an active account, you become eligible for an overdraft facility of up to ₹5,000.
Eligibility Criteria for a PMJDY Account Opening Online
- Indian Citizen: You must be an Indian citizen aged 10 years or above.
- Bank Access: You can open the account with any bank branch or Business Correspondent (Bank Mitra) outlet.
- Documentation: Provide documents like Aadhaar card, voter ID, driving license, MGNREGA card, passport, or PAN card as proof of identity and address. If valid documents are not available, banks can still open the account after conducting background checks.
- Minors: Minors above 10 years can open the account and get a RuPay debit card to withdraw money from ATMs.
- Zero Balance: The account can be opened with zero balance.
- Overdraft Facility: After remaining active for 6 months, the account holder becomes eligible for an overdraft facility of up to ₹5,000.
